4. Roasting pan and thermometer

You may think that the pan you have is good enough, but maybe it is a good idea to check on it. If you have not bought one recently, maybe you need an upgrade. Especially if you got that one on sale.

Also, think about the size of your turkey, maybe your pan is too big or too small for the bird you plan to roast, and buying one the day of is not going to happen. It’s good to check on your utensils periodically so give it a look-over.

While you’re at it, check that the thermometer is where you last put it. If you cannot remember, you should look for it. We warn about this because thermometers will fly off the shelves or online stores faster the closer you get to Thanksgiving, and they may even go up in price! If you cannot find yours you should get a new one as soon as possible. No one likes a dry turkey.

5. Fat separator

This one may not have been on your radar at all, but we will let you in on a secret. The best gravy is made from the meat juices will the least amount of fat. If you are planning to make the stock the day of, or the day before, we recommend you get a fat separator. In particular, one that has a bottom draining design. That way you will not risk leaving fatty parts in there and messing up your amazing gravy.

If you do not want to go through all that jazz just to make a sauce and plan on getting the ready-made stuff or mixes for it, grab the brand you like next time you are at the grocery store. Add some seasoning packets too, while you are at it. They have a long shelf life and it’s one less thing to worry about the morning of.

6. Everything non-perishable

This should go without saying, but some people forget about it. If you plan to have a big gathering or even if you do not, it is time to make use of that Costco membership (if you have one). You will need quite a lot of flour, sugar, canned goods, and even some freezer items, and getting them in bulk will save you time and money.

There’s a lot of food to make and you may think you will never go through that huge bag of flour, but do not forget that Christmas is right around the corner and you will need some for that too. Just make sure you store them the right way in your pantry. You can get them ahead of time, search for some deals too, and get yourself not only peace of mind ahead of Thanksgiving but also some extra cash to spend on loved ones.

Did you think about all of these?
