Do you like Sam’s Club? However, avoid these products when shopping at Sam’s Club at all costs.Â
Have you ever felt like a child in a candy store when shopping at Sam’s Club? It’s difficult not to load your basket to the gills with everything on those towering shelves stocked with mouthwatering treats.
Here’s a little secret, though: not everything in this wholesale paradise is a good deal. While certain products can appear to have excellent value, they are best left on the shelf.
Do you want to be a wise shopper without breaking the bank? Let’s look more closely at all the products you should avoid when shopping at Sam’s Club next time:
Huge canned goods
One of the first products you must avoid when shopping at Sam’s Club is their humongous canned foods. While it’s quite OK to purchase standard-sized canned foods in bulk if you have a large family. These usually come in reasonable amounts and have a lengthy shelf life.
But those enormous cans are used for dining areas like cafeterias and restaurants. You will almost certainly have a sizable amount of leftovers after opening unless you are positive you will consume the full can at once. If you leave the leftovers in the refrigerator, they may spoil.
Books
If you’re a bookworm, then there is no greater feeling of happiness when some of your favorite books are on sale. However, if you’re browsing at Sam’s Club, don’t stop by the book section. Why?
Sam’s Club offers books at prices that appear good but most of the books are specifically targeted for young readers or children. Adults have few options, and the ones that do exist are limited.
When conventional or independent bookshops hold clearance sales, you’ll discover better bargains there. Another excellent alternative is to purchase used books on Amazon.
Sam’s Club brand chips
Did someone just say the word chips? Tasty, crunchy, and super addictive to munch on when you watch a movie chips are everyone’s go-to snack. We are not here to lecture on how healthy or unhealthy they are just stating the fact that it might not be the best idea to add them to your cart next time you’re shopping at Sam’s Club.
The variety bag of potato chips from Sam’s Club looks like a good value. It has BBQ, traditional (like Ruffles), cheddar & sour cream, and sour cream & onion.
Reviews, however, claim that only half of the 1-oz bags were filled. There were just six chips in one bag. When the bags were weighed in one video, several of them weighed less than half an ounce. Dang! Not good.
Breakfast cereal
Purchasing breakfast cereal in bulk is usually a waste of money unless you have a large family and everyone will eat cereal for breakfast every day for one month.
If you purchase cereal in large quantities, you might also choose to spend money on airtight storage bins to keep it in once the box has been opened. This will contribute to a longer shelf life.
Farm Rich battered mushrooms
It might seem like a good deal, especially for those who don’t eat meat, but it’s not. Farm-rich battered mushrooms were voted by many customers as low-quality and pretty pricey for how they taste and look. They’re too soggy, “and too squishy,” and the sauce is meh as well.
Maybe you can try to deep fry them, but that would defeat the purpose of trying to eat mushrooms, which are supposed to be…healthy? Oh well.
That’s why next time you’re going shopping at Sam’s Club, instead of buying this item, stick with some fresh mushrooms that you can cook in batter and panko in your kitchen.
If you’re going shopping once a week, then you’re probably aiming to buy a lot of stuff. For that, you will need reusable and durable shopping bags. This set of three bags is made to last because they have a box shape to stand up, stay open, and fold flat, and, of course, a hard bottom to support all the items you want to carry. They are available on Amazon for $27.99.Â
Condiments
Even though condiments last a long time, there are “best by” dates to keep in mind and certain products lose their flavor with time. Unless you frequently run out of some types of condiments quickly, it doesn’t make sense to purchase them in bulk. The only possible exception would be if you’re having a large gathering and need to feed a lot of people.
Gift wrapping supplies
Do you have to go to a birthday party soon? If so, don’t go shopping at Sam’s Club to buy wrapping supplies. If you buy these items in bulk, you can have mountains of them that take up room for years. Additionally, you might want to change up your designs. A forty-five-dollar six-pack of ribbon?
Sunscreen
Purchasing sunscreen in bulk or a large container makes little sense unless you plan to spend every day of the summer in the sun or unless you’re living in a state that is warm all year round.
Furthermore, sunscreen starts to lose its efficacy beyond its expiration date. If you purchase sunscreen in bulk, part of it may expire before you ever open it.

My fresh mushrooms started growing fungus after 2 days in frig. Called Sam’s for a credit as I could not go to the store. They refused ..no way was I cooking them. Tossed garbage…when a store sells goods that are old ,Ike this and fruit or whatever, they should be willing to. Reddit you for the loss..going back to the store is not a good solution. Takes too much time and gas, and ruins trust in the stores abi,it to provide fresh produce
