Avoid getting roped into buying things immediately!
The fear of missing out (or FOMO, as people these days call it) is a real thing. And we are all guilty of making impulse buys when we least expect them. And, let’s be honest, it’s not such a big deal if you end up buying a few extra items than what you had on your list at the grocery store, but if you end up getting the card out to buy the latest tech, you’ll find your wallet taking quite a hit.
Try to keep your impulse buying to a minimum and, whenever you are browsing the internet, keep in mind that most of the things you end up buying are indeed unnecessary! One method to make sure that you aren’t throwing your money around is to make a rule for yourself that you have to wait for; the bigger the purchase, the more you have to wait. Sure, you will feel like you need to buy it then and there, but you may just not feel the same in a week, or even a month!
Don’t jump ship immediately!
The most common mistake most of us make is adopting a new model too soon. Let’s be honest, the newest iPhone has nothing new or revolutionary. And unless you are in a loyalty program that will replace your current device with the newest model the moment it drops, there is no need for you to go out of your way to buy it.
Phones aside, there are a lot of reasons against the early adoption of new models or tech products. By being the very first people to buy them, not only will you pay the highest price, but you will also be the first people to test them out. You won’t know if the model has any drawbacks, if there are any defects, or even if the item lives up to the hype around it!
It’s better to wait a little bit and then make an informed decision! Who knows? Maybe you will be able to get a cheaper price on sites like Amazon too!
