Check out these amazing free TV apps and save your money for things that matter!

When someone says the word ‘free’, it really gets my attention. If you’re one of them too, then let me tell you about my experience of being a frugal person for more than a year now.

Back in 2020, I used to spend money on a lot of things that weren’t exactly necessary, and one of them was paying a subscription to TV cable. One day, after calculating every single bill that I have to pay and seeing how every little one adds up to the final cost, I decided to cut some of them.

Since then, I started hunting for free TV apps, and you won’t believe how many are available! Here are some of the best I’ve tested myself with too:

1. Crackle

In the US, Crackle is an ad-supported network. It offers TV series, full-length films, and even some original content. Commercials must be seen, of course, but you don’t even need to have an account to begin viewing.

Simply add the channel to your television and start watching! See what’s fresh by returning regularly since the Crackle library is updated constantly.

Here you can watch a lot of old and new movies and TV series. I just started to rewatch LOST and honestly, Crackle is definitely one of the free TV apps I’d recommend to a friend!

2. Tubi

I truly enjoy Tubi, so I wish I had known about it sooner. Compared to cable, they provide free streaming TV and movies with fewer commercials. You don’t even need to register for an account or log in; there is no requirement for a subscription. Tubi is accessible all around the nation.

The good news is that there are over 20,000 great films and TV series available for free streaming, in case you’re new to it. The ability to customize the streaming service’s engine to just show you content that suits your tastes is another benefit of using it.

Additionally, there is a section for your children or grandchildren! The fun is guaranteed for both of you, for sure.

3. IMDb TV

This is one of my favorite free TV apps on the list. With IMDb TV, you can watch high-quality films and TV series for free without having to sign up for a membership.

However, you must use an Amazon Fire TV device or the Prime Video app to stream it to your TV. And in case you’re thinking about getting one, you don’t have to search the whole internet for it. Click here to purchase it directly on Amazon.

If you don’t have the necessary finances to buy it, don’t worry since IMDb TV is still free (although with advertisements, of course), so you won’t need to pay for a Prime membership.

To access the Prime Video app, you must have an Amazon account or create one. You don’t need a membership to watch the vast selection of TV series and movies they have available.

4. Popcornflix

A free app called Popcornflix offers a selection of films and TV series. Additionally, there is a Popcornflix Kids channel exclusively for younger viewers. To be honest, this app doesn’t really stand out, but if you’re searching for fresh free material, it’s still worth a try. To watch, you don’t need an account.

5. Roku

Roku’s choices truly really pleased me that’s why is probably one of the best free TV apps on the list! You may sort their Kids and family material by age and find a ton of TV shows and movies. The Roku Channel offers a constantly evolving variety of free television series, films, and even live news.

The Roku Channel may be accessed without a Roku device. Although the standard channel is free, you have the option to add Premium Subscriptions for an extra charge.

6. Pluto TV

When it comes to free TV apps, you must check out Pluto TV, which is one of them. Why did you choose this one? First of all, you don’t need to sign up to watch Pluto TV. Second, it has a huge variety of movies and news channels.

What I didn’t like about Pluto TV is that it has a lot of commercials since it’s a free app. But for what it is designed for, I think it does a pretty good job, especially if you want to be more frugal and stop paying for TV cable.

7. Peacock

Another one that’s worth trying is Peacock. In the network streaming game, Peacock is the most recent addition. Since it’s really a different service from NBC, I didn’t list it above with the free TV apps.

After creating an account, which is required, you may begin viewing immediately. For $4.99 a month, you might also think about upgrading to Peacock Premium (free for Xfinity customers).

Ads are there to finance its on-demand streaming of sports, TV series, movies, and kid-friendly content—yes, even with Premium.
