17 Trader Joe’s Products That Have Disappeared From the Shelves

Trader Joe’s likes mixing up its inventory now and then. Offering products depending on the season really helps drive demand, which means that the shelves in their grocery stores will look completely different from one month to another.

Even if many of the chain’s limited items came back eventually, other goods could meet a more permanent end. Yes, you read that right. Unfortunately, some of their best (or worst, depending on your tastes) products will soon meet their end in this grocery chain.

Are you curious to know which ones? Because we made a list of the 17 Trader Joe’s products we heard will be gone this year:

  1. They no longer have their soy creamy. That was a favorite for us. It was a great price too. Half tge cost of other non dairy ice cream like deserts.

  2. Trader Joe’s deodorant was THE best I ever used. When I went there several months ago all they had was tom’s of Maine which I have tried and don’t like. I went last week and couldn’t find any deodorant.

  3. TJ’s is notorious for their inability to keep products on the shelves ,saying: “Trader Joe’s likes mixing up its inventory now and then” is purely ridiculous ! Everytime I have gone in to a store several items are not in stock ,this has been going on for many yrs, they seem incapable of developing a secure and steady supply or production of many products constantly saying “oh we are having a problem with the supplier etc” and these are for the everyday items that TJ’s has carried for a very long time, then there are those items they introduce that many come to love that are suddenly no longer available ,these all have nothing to do with seasonal items ,this is a problem that TJ’s feels is not a problem in that they have no interest in developing a relationship with a supplier or manufacturer that can maintain a steady and secure longterm supply.

    1. I think it’s a marketing strategy. People still come back looking, but buy something else so it’s not a wasted trip.🤔

    2. I was told by a stocker that the vendor has to pay for their space. I don’t know if the cost fluctuates, but maybe it depends on how their product sells as to if they want to restock their item?

    3. It is annoying. We only go to Trader Joes a few times a year and have always liked the products we have bought. Their canned dog food, a particular cake and cookies and some types of cheeses. None of these items were in the store about 2/3 weeks ago. What a waste driving over there. At this point we will only drop into the store if we are in the area. If we see something new that looks good we’ll try it but know these things might not be there the next time we stop in. Pretty poor business practice.

Maybe they only by heavily discounted items that are on the way out to keep the prices low. Thus a product is on its last legs at TJ’s when it first goes on the shelf. I first notices this years ago when the used to sell snails en brioche. They were fantastic and when they were gone I was too.

    5. There are still problems with supply chains even though it seems a long time since Covid first appeared. In my primary super market, there have been a number of products I can no longer find. Or, they’re only occasionally stocked.

I’ve been trying to buy chocolate graham crackers and even tried to buy them online. I decided to do some web research. Come to find out, the only company that makes them has stopped producing them. These have been a popular item since I was a kid, some 60 years ago. It’s just a sign of the times.

I worked in large and small retail stores for years. TJ’s stores are small and have limited shelf space. Every store likes to introduce new products, which means others will be discontinued. It also depends upon how many people buy certain products. Why would any store stock products that don’t sell?

  4. I am a dedicated Trader Joe shopper. The only thing on your list of 17 products that I have bought, is the dark russet potato chips. They are very good and I will miss them. With the rising cost of food, Trader Joe is still one of the most reasonable places to shop.

  5. now they have discontinued their Belgian Chocolate pudding-it was the best pudding I’ever tasted..GONE WTH THE WIND, like many other items I get addicted to and then they are eliminated…so frustrating when you really love a product and it seems to be selling & popular

    1. I guess it’s good they eliminate them so they can help your addiction? That should be a blessing, not something to frustrate you

  6. They’ve also lost their fruit biscuits that I’ve used to top with strawberries for strawberry shortcake!! That one hit me hard!

  7. I was once told by a TJ employee that their main goal was to introduce new products to the public. If they did well, they would move on to other venues and if they did not, they were just dropped. I would like to be told, perhaps in their flyer, where these products would now be sold. I wonder if you looked the product up on line if you could find out that way?

    1. Along with some other chocolate and cookie favorites and their soup crackers which were the best and a favorite cereal and their unsulphured apricots. We have pretty much lost interest in shopping at TJ’s. Every time we shopped this past year we could not find at least one favorite. There are plenty of organic stores and markets around us, so if we can’t get our favorites there is no point in wasting a trip.

  8. I miss their washed and frozen leak. I would make a potato leek soup and this made it extremely easy to do. I also miss your eggplant slices as that was my go to eggplant Parmesan meal. They also discontinued their decaf Irish tea. Sorry to see all of these things disappear from TJ’s inventory.

  9. They have discontinued their organic frozen pizza dough from Italy . It was so good there was recipes on you tube about it . Gone gone gone! Bummer!

  10. Gee and to think I was the only one looking for a favorite.Seasonal is used frequently to answer a question as to why a product is gone.Beets, low fat vinagrette( no low or no fat salad dressing to be seen),hot and spicy jelly, chicken pot pie( frozen one) Greek chicken long gone they are looking for an alternate supplier as of 2 years ago,Peruvian potatoe chips,3 pak of dried apricots,etc.etc. my grocery list has shrunk a lot during the past years.

  11. A lot of their vitamins are gone they were quite inexpensive Sorry to see them go I always would shop there for them.

  12. I LOVED the “Embrace Your Inner Bean” they were delicious!!! Gone. The round beet chips were great too. Gone. Loved the broccoli chips. Gone. The bar soap with tea tree oil. Gone. Green olives in a can. Gone. The gluten-free raspberry/blueberry muffins. Gone. Seems every year at least one item I buy regularly goes away. Sad for me.

  13. Trader Joe’s is slowly removing my incentive to shop there. I used to buy their strawberry and raspberry fruit spreads. They discontinued those. I used to buy their organic baked beans. They discontinued those. They used to sell a beer called “Heller Bock.” It was one of the best beers out there. They discontinued it. Hofbrau Bock, another good beer, discontinued. Same story for a number of other products I used to go to TJ’s specifically to buy. As for the products that I would still buy from TJ’s, I can find reasonable substitutes elsewhere. It used to be worth my time to make the drive to TJ’s. Not so much any more.

  14. I Love Trader Joe’s and happy they are in my neighborhood now. No matter how crowded it is, the cashiers are so, so fast and always so friendly, so is the rest of the staff. I will not miss any of the things they just listed – would not eat them anyway, but do miss the Irish butter and Ritter sport chocolate. Thank you Trader Joe’s!

  15. Trader Joe’s has lacked the luster they had from the time they opened, it’s disheartening to see so many products I loved discontinued why , how , was there something in the product ? We the People should be told why it’s discontinued and NEVER coming back re: some type of bug , it’s very strange to me and it’s happening on a regular basis , NOT GOOD!!

  16. For 20 years I have purchased the Bay Blend Dark Toast coffee. The best!! I am so sorry it is not available

You should have the notice of discontinued items so shoppers make plans and rearrange there list before hand.
