Taste test
Costco Pumpkin Pie
The pumpkin pie at Costco costs $6. We measured it, and we discovered that it has no less than 11 inches in diameter. Besides that, the pie looks simply delicious, even if we were a bit wary of the bone-white crust and odd syrupy liquid that formed over the custard. However, a taste test confirmed our worst suspicions: the crust was undercooked and mushy, which simply made it impossible to cut.
Sam’s Club Pumpkin Pie
The price of a pumpkin pie at Sam’s Club is $7. It has a golden crust and a very solid custard filling, and it seems to be well-baked. However, the flavors didn’t deliver as they were supposed to. The custard had a peculiar soapy test, and the spices were way overboard in terms of overpowering. However, at least Sam’s Club didn’t underbake their pie.
Costco Croissants
The price of Costco Croissants is $6, which is 50 cents per croissant. Costco’s croissants definitely look delicious. On the outside, you can see when the baker laminates the dough, which gives the viennoiserie its well-known flaky crust.
Unlike other grocery store croissants, Costco’s are famous for their caramel-colored and shiny look. They also have a cross-section that looks very promising, revealing its airy and delicate multi-layered crumb.
Sam’s Club Sandwich Croissants
The price for Sam’s Club Sandwich Croissants is $6, which is 50 cents per croissant. Sam’s tasty croissants look similar to a shrink-wrapped biscuit that you might get on one of those international flights. It definitely tastes like that too: they’re pillow-soft, heavy, and very bland. The sandwich croissant is less like a croissant and more like a fluffy Hawaiian bread roll.
