Kroger does have the biggest selection when it comes to everything cookable and bakeware, especially when compared with other grocery stores of the same size, but this doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s the best one. or that it’s going to offer the best deals for their products.
Truth be told, while there’s nothing egregiously wrong with these products to make you run away scared, you’re going to find better deals and lower prices at other big box stores. It’s not about quality but rather value, and when it comes to cooking equipment, you’re better off shopping somewhere else.
Books
Another thing you should be steering clear of is definitely the book section. While generally, you can find some books in the grocery stores, Kroger’s is quite lacking when it comes to this department. You will not be able to find much or a very big selection, but you will also have to pay the list price for that book.
And while paying the list price isn’t the worst thing in the world, other stores, even some bookstores, will offer some sort of discount on both their bestsellers and other books, even newer ones. There’s no need to pay more than you have to at the grocery store just because it is more convenient. After all, it’s better to support your local book store than to get your books from Kroger, and even if you are in a pinch, you may be better off with an ebook and dusting off that Kindle.
Better avoid: Batteries
If you’re looking to replace the old batteries in your TV remote, or any battery around your house for that matter, Kroger isn’t the place where you will be able to do that. At least not for a cheap price. If you’re in a pinch, you will be able to find something despite the quite limited selection when it comes to batteries, but otherwise, you’re better off trying at any other store or even online.
This is because, besides the limited offer, you are also going to be paying a lot more than you would in other places, even double the price for brand-name batteries. It doesn’t get better when it comes to their own brand, as you can get a better value per item at other stores. No matter how you look at it, just skip the batteries.
