Another standalone machine that requires extra space and may not be as effective or efficient as built-in appliances is the portable dishwasher. It may be efficient at sanitizing and cleaning dishes when used correctly, but its compact size limits the number of dishes it can accommodate per cycle.
According to experts, if you have the option, installing a built-in dishwasher is a better and more cost-effective decision. Alternatively, consider washing dishes the classic way—by hand—or using a compact countertop dishwasher, which is often more space-saving and energy-efficient.

I disagree with the coment on portable dishwashers unless they have changed. I did not have room for the built in one the first time but did have a space to set it between two cabinets.
when we remodeled our kitichen we converteed it to the space. When it finally had to be replaced we already had the space for a real built in. I’ve had two more after that and have never had a problem.
As you can tell my portable was many years ago so they probaly made better at that time.
