#6 They’re Aldi’s brother store!
Yes, you read that right. While the store was founded in 1967 in Pasadena, California, by Joe, it took about 12 years of running the business before it was bought by a big conglomerate. Aldi Nord, which is the German company that runs all the European Aldi stores, bought Trader Joe’s and then transferred the running rights to Aldi Sud, which is the company branch that takes care of operating Aldi in the United States.
It may seem weird, as not many people think of Aldi and Trader Joe’s as brother companies, but this is the reality. The fun thing is that this is where the similarities between the two stores stop. They are different in concept, marketing strategy, and types of products that they focus on! So no matter where you shop, the experience is going to be very different.
And if you’re curious about what are the items you shouldn’t miss while shopping at Trader Joe’s, here are our best picks from the store!
