#5 They will take your attention away from better deals

Getting the best deal and bang for your buck shouldn’t be a race or extremely complicated. However, using coupons sometimes feels like having to go through all of these hurdles just to be able to get a discount on some products. This is a ploy most of the time, as there are lots of stores that offer coupons but also have their own store brands that have products that are just as good. And generally, you will be able to get generic products at a better price than most coupons!

Unit prices will also show you whether it is a better deal or not, as you will see how much you pay per product rather than the whole case. Keep an eye out and don’t let the coupon mania sway you. You may be missing out on great deals.

#6 You don’t actually get them for free

It may seem like you’re getting them for free, but actually, there is a way in which you always pay for those coupons that you get with your receipt! It comes in the form of information; most of those require you to get a card or sign up for a loyalty program that the store has, and by scanning the loyalty card (which will give you the coupon after you pay with your receipt), you give them all the information they need to keep you buying from their store.

Those cards track what and how much you buy from all the stores, at which hours, and many other data points that they then use to make sure you keep coming back! Not to mention, there’s nothing stopping these stores from selling this data they have on consumers to brands and marketers!

See? Nothing ever comes for free.
