1. Shredded CheeseÂ
Those pre-shredded cheese big bags are appealing for sure, but unless you plan to throw a quesadilla party it’s better to pass on this one. Chefs warn that not only do you not know what each type of cheese is in the mixed type bags or for how long it has been there, but also that it does not melt as good as normal cheese that you shred at home.
Moreover, if you close the bag and store it in the fridge for further use, as much as you try there is the possibility of moisture getting inside of it. And sooner than later you will end up with small clusters of moldy cheese in the bag, even if it’s not expired.
Do yourself a favor and unless you plan to use all 2.5lbs of it at once, skip on it and pick up a block of cheese instead. It can be a great activity to try with your kids and they can feel like they contributed to the meal.
2. Frozen Salmon
The frozen salmon section has some really good offers, however, there are some problems with that one as well. Chefs say that it is actually a better deal to get the fresh salmon from Costco than the seasoned frozen ones. That is because fish is a delicate protein and it should not be left to marinate for too long.
With frozen products, you can never know how long they have been frozen or seasoned, so when you get around to cooking it you can end up with mushy fish, instead of the buttery flaky texture salmon is known for. Get the fresh variety for your family, or the unseasoned one if you truly have to rely on the frozen variety.
3. Sour Cream
Let’s be honest, how much sour cream do you really need? Unless you have a really big family or you plan to make a really big meal where you would need those 3lbs tubs of sour cream. Even if it is pasteurized, dairy products spoil easily, especially after they are opened and chance may have it, you will not get to use all of it before it goes bad or moldy.
Chefs suggest you stick to the smaller containers that you can get in bulk for sour cream or yogurt. That way you can use it faster and accommodate the big demand in your family.

Your prices are too high. Just like Acme now. I have been shopping at Walmart now for a lot of my food , after shopping at Shoprite for over 25 years.
