Ford EcoSport

The Ford F, 1.16% EcoSport had a couple of cool features, such as standard all-wheel drive, and a large cargo area, but also a low starting price. Even so, there were many downsides, too. This subcompact SUV didn’t have the required fuel economy or modern features that would have kept it in “competition” with its other rivals. It was smaller inside than other models of subcompact SUVs, and the base model was spartan.

Mercedes-Benz A-Class

Maintaining the “SUVs good, 4-doors bad” vibe, the 2022 Mercedes-Benz A-Class is probably the last of its kind. No, it’s definitely the last. Even if it has a couple of engaging driving dynamics, great technology, and an upscale look and feel for a cheaper price, the A-Class 3-box body shape has done it.

Volkswagen Passat

The Volkswagen Passat’s midsize balance between size and efficiency was eventually tuned for the American market. In fact, the U.S. required its own specification of Passat, built in VW’s VWAGY, 6.00% Chattanooga, Tennessee, plant.

And yes, it has a very spacious interior, sizable trunk, and ample standard safety features, and yet, it still failed to keep its fanbase in the face of a crossover, especially since it had no all-wheel drive and rather underwhelming performance.

Honda Insight

The same as Honda’s HMC, a 1.16% dedicated hybrid model, the Honda Insight never managed to rise to the challenge of competing with the Toyota Prius, mainly because it arrived on the scene too late. Would you believe that now is being replaced by the car that was made before, which is a hybrid version of the Civic?

Despite the poor timing and sedan body style, Insight had some valuable strengths, like the fact that it had a comfortable, spacious cabin and as much as 55 mpg around town. It’s true that it also had weaknesses, such as a noisy engine under heavy acceleration, no driving dynamics, or a limited trim and featured options.
