#7 Panini press
Who doesn’t love a good panini? There’s something about pressed toasted sandwiches that just screams lunch. They can be as plain or as complicated as you wish and are amazing for a quick lunch when at home, to spice up the variety.
Yet, what isn’t quick is cleaning the press: it can get pretty messy if you’re opting for cheese or other ingredients that can leak, and let’s be honest, if you’re not careful about how you’re cleaning it, you can ruin the non-stick surface.
This is why, if you’re looking to buy one, you can very well skip this product. Everyone we know who has one barely uses it and hates cleaning it. Not to mention, you’ve been making grilled cheese sandwiches without one for ages: use the same technique for paninis as well. Just weigh down the bread in the pan with a plate, and you’re good to go!
#8 Biscuit cutters
If you’ve never made biscuits for your weekend (or even weekly) breakfast, then you’re definitely missing out. They’re amazing when you make them fresh; the buttery, flakey texture with some honey makes for a decadent breakfast or brunch, or just an amazing little meal. However, a lot of us fall for those biscuit cutters that you can find in virtually any size at the baker’s stores or even in normal supermarkets.
The truth is that, unless they’re some sort of fun shape for when you’re going to make sugar cookies with the young ones in the family, you don’t need any biscuit cutters. For normal biscuits, you can just use anything round you have around the kitchen: a cup or even a jar if you want bigger circles. You’ll forget all about these cutters, and they will end up being just another useless product gathering dust in your drawers.
