#3 Dried legume
Do not confuse dried beans of any variety with canned or fresh ones; these ones are going to last forever if you keep them in airtight packaging. And they come in a huge variety, so you do not have to worry about them going bad or that you will get bored of them. Some of the most common non-perishable dried legumes are black, kidney, navy garbanzo, lima beans, and black-eyed peas. as well as various types of lentils!
The only problem you may face is that the older the bean, the longer it will have to rehydrate before you can actually use it to cook your meals. The best way to avoid having to worry about this is to leave your dried legumes to soak overnight and then get to cooking! They’re the best choices for amazing winter stews or soups, no matter if you add meat or chicken to them!
#4 Canned ham
The USDA names canned ham as one of the most shelf-stable types of meats, but you have to be careful of which ones you are buying. There are two types of canned ham: one of them needs to be refrigerated, and the other can be kept in a room-temperature pantry or cupboard for up to two years. They are both quite non-perishable, but the refrigerated ones can only last between six and nine months at maximum.
Once opened, any type of ham can be frozen for up to two months before being discarded!
